Rules governing the connection of a computer to the ArchAnth subnet¶
Introduction¶
This document describes the conditions under which you are permitted to connect a computer to the ArchAnth subnet, and the rules you must observe when you have done so. You can always obtain the latest version of this document from: http://www.arch.cam.ac.uk/comp/ac072/

You are required to observe these rules and regulations linked to here:
- Rules made by the Information Strategy and Services Syndicate
- ISSS guidelines on the use and misuse of computing facilities
- JANET Acceptable Use Policy
- Conditions of issue of IP addresses
In addition, you are required to conform to the requirements laid out in Pre-requisites for the connection of a computer to the ArchAnth network and any additional rules posted here.
- Connection to the ArchAnth network is not an entitlement.
- No guarantee of service is made.
- The Division of Archaeology reserves the right to introduce a charge for this service.
- In the first instance, problems or perceived problems caused by your computer will be resolved by disconnecting your computer from the network until the Computer Officer has sufficient time to investigate.
- You may not offer any network services, including but not limited to file-sharing and connection-sharing, from your computer.
- You must notify the Computer Officers if you will be absent from Cambridge for more than one month.
- The Department takes no responsibility for the state of your computer nor damage of any kind caused to it.
