(Purchasing additional print credit)

(Help. I can’t print)

On the instruction of the Department Committee, printing to PWF printers operated by the Division of Archaeology is charged for. Most members of the Division of Archaeology receive a free quota each year. Additional printing must then be paid for.

Quotas

The allowances for the Academical Year 2013–2014 are as follows:

MPhil students £6.00
PhD students £8.00

Undergraduates, Visting Scholars, Visiting Students, Affiliated Scholars and Affiliated Lecturers should purchase credit as described below in Purchasing additional print credit. UTOs in the Division of Archaeology should contact a Computer Officer.

Charges

The actual charges are as follows:

A4 black-and-white 4p
A4 colour 25p
A1 (plotter) 300p
A0 (plotter) 600p

You will be unable to print to a PWF printer without an allocated print quota. This is allocated to you when you have obtained keys to Room B9 or the appropriate laboratory. After you have been issued keys your quota is credited appropriately each year until you return your keys or cease to be an eligible student. Credit is not allocated retrospectively.

If you are not entitled to a print quota you will need to purchase credits using the PWF eCredit application described below.

Problems

If your print job fails contact the Computer Officer for a refund. A refund is only available if the failure is due to a fault on the printing system or the printer. Print jobs failing due to user error are not eligible for a refund.

Help. I can’t print

If you are unable to print, you probably don’t have any print quota. This may be because you have not followed the correct procedure for getting permission to use the computers in B9. This is explained here. Your print quota is allocated to you only when you have obtained the permission of the Convenor of the Computing Sub-committee and the necessary keys from Jessica Rippengal.

Scope

Please note that print credits purchased from the Department are not valid on Computing Service PWF printers, but print credit purchased from the Computing Service through the PWF eCredit application are.

Purchasing additional print credit

You can purchase additional printing credits using the eCredit application on a PWF PC. Log in and click on the Start button, then choose All Programs then Account Management, then eCredit. You will be prompted to specify how much additional credit you wish to purchase and you will be able to pay using your credit/debit card. This print credit will work on Department of Archaeology printers, Computing Service printers, and printers in many but not all College and Department PWF clusters: Click the Which Printers button in the eCredit application.

If you have neither a credit or debit card you can pay by cheque using the application form available here: PWF printing payment form. You should also use this form to obtain credits free of charge due to hardship or for use by ARC or the AFC. This credit will be valid only for printers in the Division of Archaeology.

Please note that payment must be by guaranteed cheque: Cash cannot be accepted under any circumstances.
